Valley Forge NP

Two Killed By Train In Park

Rangers responded to reports of two men being hit by a freight train in the park on Saturday, May 17th.

The Norfolk Southern train had come to a stop and efforts were quickly made by rangers and other emergency responders to locate the victims. They were soon found under the train and determined to be dead.

Rangers worked with the Norfolk Southern Railroad police, Upper Merion Township police and the Montgomery County coroner's office on recovery efforts. Although the tracks run through the park, the property is owned by the Norfolk Southern Railroad, which is conducting the investigation.
