Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NHP - Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park marked the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Cedar Creek -- the last major battle in the 1864 Valley Campaign -- over four days in October.


Natural Resource Stewardship and Science - One of the NPS sustainability goals is to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from employee commuting. You can help the Service measure progress towards meeting this goal by participating in a survey on your commuting habits.


Fire Island NS - Educators from across the New York metropolitan area participated in Fire Island National Seashore's October 5th shoreline dynamics educator's workshop.


Chesapeake and Ohio Canal NHP - Sixteen Boy Scouts, led by an Eagle Scout candidate, completed improvements to the National Park Service's Four-Locks outdoor shooting range in late September.


Saguaro NP - In an ongoing effort to improve Saguaro National Park's sustainability, the park has established a “Green Banana” award for effective efforts to reduce energy usage.


Lassen Volcanic NP - Darlene Koontz, superintendent at Lassen Volcanic National Park, will retire on October 31st with 31 years of service.
