OTHER NEWS The following stories are among those in today's webpage editions of InsideNPS (available to NPS employees only) and the Morning Report (available to all readers): Fort Vancouver NHS - Fort Vancouver National Historic Site has acquired an extremely rare 1919 DeHavilland DH-4B "Liberty" biplane for exhibit at the park's Pearson Air Museum and Jack Murdock Aviation Center. Today's Almanac - Heavy rain is forecast for opposite corners of the country - western Washington and eastern New England. Tropical Storm Ana continues to move away from Hawaii; a depression in the Gulf of Mexico will likely become a tropical storm today. Poverty Point NM - Director Jon Jarvis joined with Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne, Senator Mary Landrieu, other dignitaries, and a large crowd of citizens on October 11th to celebrate the official inscription of Poverty Point as a World Heritage Site. Theodore Roosevelt NP - Clear skies, crisp autumn weather, and enthusiastic crowds all contributed to the success of Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Historic Medora's second annual Dakota Nights Astronomy Festival. Kings Mountain NMP - The newly formed Southern Campaign of the American Revolution group of parks successfully completed its first collaborative interpretive effort with the 2014 Upstate Revolutionary War Weekend. Rock Creek Park - A multi-divisional team from WASO and NCR participated in Fiesta Washington DC, the city's largest Latino event, on September 21st, and another, similar festival on the 28th. Mount Rainier NP - On October 31st, Chuck Young, Mount Rainier's chief ranger, will be putting away his NPS flat hat for the final time after serving 37 years in the National Park Service.
