OTHER NEWS The following stories are among those in today's webpage editions of InsideNPS (available to NPS employees only) and the Morning Report (available to all readers): World War II Valor in the Pacific NM - This year's Pearl Harbor Day commemoration, attended by over 2,000 guests and visitors, featured a newly reconstructed memorial wall with the names of the 1,177 sailors, officers and Marines who lost their lives on the USS Arizona on December 7, 1941, Today's Almanac - A nor'easter will continue to bring rain and snow to the Northeast. A series of strong frontal systems will bring high winds, heavy rain and snow to the West Coast. Northeast Region - More than 200 people gathered on December 7th at the World War II destroyer USS Cassin Young in the Charlestown Navy Yard to commemorate the 73nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Tuskegee Airmen NHS - A film entitled “The Tuskegee Airmen: Sacrifice and Triumph” won first place in the long video category in this year's National Association for Interpretation media competition. Office of Communications - Dr. Raymond Sauvajot has been selected to head the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate in Washington. He is a 21 year veteran of science-focused work in the NPS. Parashant NM - On December 31st, Raymond Klein (aka “Ranger Ray”), the chief ranger for Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, will retire after more than 34 years of service with the National Park Service. Andersonville NHS - Alan Marsh, Andersonville's chief of resource management, will retire in mid-December. Alan has 29 years of service with the federal government.
