National Capital Region - Robert “Bob” Vogel, a 33-year veteran of the NPS, has been selected as regional director for National Capital Region. He is currently the superintendent of the National Mall and Memorial Parks.


US Park Police - Robert D. MacLean has been selected as the new chief of the U.S. Park Police. He will manage a workforce of over 700 employees with an annual operating budget that exceeds $100 million.


New Bedford Whaling NHP - The park's Junior Rangers recently explored the history of New Bedford whaling ships in the Civil War. Twenty-four of them were sailed to Charleston Harbor and sunk as part of a Union plan during the Civil War to blockade the South.


Today's Almanac - A series of strong frontal systems will bring heavy rain, snow and high winds to the West Coast from the Canadian to Mexican borders.


Biological Resource Management Division - A new two-hour-long interactive online course, "Orientation to National Park Service Integrated Pest Management," provides an overview of the laws, policies, and philosophy of the NPS integrated pest management program.


Everglades NP - In celebration of Veteran's Day, Everglades National Park partnered with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services on November 10th to host the park's first naturalization ceremony.


Denver Service Center - After 34 years of federal service, Hugh Duffy has announced that he will retire on December 27th. Hugh is a project manager in DSC's Design and Construction Division.


Intermountain Region - Karl Pierce, a 26-year veteran of the NPS, has been named superintendent of Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. Pierce is scheduled to begin his new assignment on December 14th.
