Southeast Utah Group - On Saturday, December 6th, the Southeast Utah Group - Arches, Canyonlands, Hovenweep and Natural Bridges - participated in the city of Moab's annual Christmas Electric Light Parade.


Today's Almanac - Rain and mountain snow, heavy in places, are forecast for northern California and the Northwest. A strong storm system will likely bring severe weather, heavy rainfall, flooding and heavy snow from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes. Severe storms are possible Tuesday across the Gulf Coast.


Off ice of Employee and Victim Assistance - The NPS has a team of employees trained in crisis intervention, stress management, and listening skills who are available to help you navigate through a crisis, a stressful situation, or a traumatic event in your life.


Midwest Region - Midwest Region conducted a continuation of operations exercise on December 12th. The exercise was successful in testing the region's readiness and communication systems and identifying additional plans and equipment needed.


Office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs - This week's update on past and upcoming hearings, newly introduced bills, and the status of legislation of interest to the Service. This report covers activities in Congress through December 16th. Congress is now in recess until January 6th.


Ozark NSR - Ranger Bill O'Donnell will be retiring in December after 30 years in the National Park Service, 21 of them at Ozark National Scenic Riverways.


Cultural Resources Directorate - On January 3rd, John Latschar will retire from a long and distinguished National Park Service career.


US Park Police - Two Park Police officers captured an injured red tail hawk earlier this month and got it to a raptor rehabilitation center, where it's expected to recover.


Colorado NM - Karla Tanner, the chief of interpretation and education at Colorado National Monument, will retire on December 31st.
