Office of Communications - The NPS has announced the recipients of its 2013 Natural Resource Stewardship Awards, given in six categories -- superintendent of the year, natural resource management and research, professional excellence, resource stewardship through maintenance, and natural resource management in small parks.


Today's Almanac - A strong storm will bring severe weather, heavy rain and snow and flooding from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes. Severe storms, tornados and flash flooding are possible across the Gulf Coast states.


Yosemite NP - Yosemite National Park and Yosemite Gateway Partners hosted the first-ever Yosemite sustainability conference in the park over a three day period in early December.


Selma to Montgomery NHT - A 50th anniversary commemoration of the Selma to Montgomery civil rights march will be held this March and the park is soliciting applications from people interested in participating in an associated “walking classroom” teaching event.


Historical Documentation Programs - Applications are being sought for the Sally Kress Tompkins Fellowship, which permits graduate student in architectural history (or a related field) to work on a 12-week-long HABS project.


Office of the Comptroller - IT Specialist Carol J. Peay of the Office of Property and Space Management in Herndon, Virginia, has announced her retirement from the National Park Service, effective January 3rd. 


Natchez Trace Parkway - Eleven employees with almost 250 years of combined service are retiring this month from Natchez Trace Parkway.


Rock Creek Park - Lee Snook has been selected as chief of interpretation, education and outreach at Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C. Lee. She started her new assignment in mid-October.


Budget Division - After almost 38 years of service, 37 of them with the National Park Service, Marcus Hathaway will be retiring on January 3rd.


Harpers Ferry Center - Teresa Vazquez, technical information specialist in publications at Harpers Ferry Center, retired on November 29th after 34 years with the National Park Service.
