Today's Almanac - An arctic air mass will bring strong winds and temperatures 20 to 40 degrees below normal to portions of the West, Rockies and Great Plains. Wind chills will reach 20 to 30 degrees below zero in some places. Park Facility Management Division - A new publication from the Park Facility Management Division's Transportation Branch provides information on how parks can obtain funding for improvements to park ferry systems. Blue Ridge Parkway - Kathy Tustanowski, administrative officer at Blue Ridge Parkway, retired on December 24th after 30 years of service. Ozark NSR - Faye Walmsley, the park's chief of interpretation, hung up her park ranger hat on December 19th after over 31 years of federal service, 29 of that with the National Park Service. Mount Rainier NP - Barbara Samora is retiring on January 3rd after 39 years of service with the National Park Service. She has worked the past 26 years at Mount Rainier as a professional biologist. US Park Police - After 27 years of service, Captain John “Wayne” Dewey retired from the United States Park Police on December 27th. Nez Perce NHS - Chief of Interpretation Terry O'Halloran will retire from Nez Perce National Historical Park on January 3rd following more than 37 years of service, almost 34 of it with the NPS. National Mall and Memorial Parks - Park Ranger Gil Lyons is retiring on January 2nd after over 16 years working at the National Mall and Memorial Parks.
