THE FAMILY TREE OF OUR COMMON PLANTS

The members of the composite family (asters, sunflowers, etc.) are regarded as the highest type of plants. Each branch as represented here has developed in order to comply with certain conditions of environment -- hence the widely different forms that have sprung in response to the varied needs of plants.
