Mount Rainier

(From the poem by John Lamb)

The gloaming comes and dimly in the sky
Thy ghostly summit looms against the blue, Far, soft and dreamy, fain, serene and high,
Blending into the slowly fading hue
Of Heaven's vault, but ever to renew
Thy morning birth, till time hath run his span,
and morning shall her destines course fulfill,
Burning the sordid cravings out of man,
And shaping human hearts to God's eternal will.
