INTRODUCTION

Bibliographies are, in themselves, of little interest. Yet such apparantly sterile lists of literature are often an "open sesame" to the latent possibilities embodied in a given subject. This bibliography is offered with that in mind. Mt. Rainier National Park, the fifth of our present series of twenty-six areas of that caliber to be established, is rich in varied interests that have a wide scientific and popular appeal. It is hoped that this issue of "Nature Notes", then, will serve a useful purpose as a guide to the literature which applies to this region. (C. F. B.)

Acknowledgments

The National Park Service, Mt. Rainier National Park, wishes to gratefully acknowledge the help and cooperation of the public libraries of Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, in the compilation of this bibliography.
