Markings, "BK 778, pg. 775, Cambria" indicate the document was copied from original in the Pennsylvania Archives in Harrisburg. Also, "Brief of Title." Both documents are in the files of Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, here after referred to as the Historic Site.

A vast amount of material, too extensive to be included inn the book, is preserved in the archives of the Pennsylvania Room of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. It is entirely possible that survey drawings and other photographs can be located there which would be of great importance to the architect.

16. The tax assessment record of 1826 may be in error. It lists Lemon's holdings as 28 acres and in 1827 and 1828, as 288 acres, which suggests that the 1826 entry ought to be 288 as well and a digit "8" was misplaced.
