FORT LARNED Master Plan

There are no large reservoirs for public recreation located within Pawnee County or the immediate vicinity, nor does the potential for such exist at this time. Cheyenne Bottoms Reservoir, however, is approximately 35 miles northeast and Cedar Bluff Reservoir about 40 miles northwest.

Within the nine counties comprising Region 05 of the State of Kansas Outdoor Recreation Planning Program, there are 14 private campgrounds with 25 total improved campsites and the remainder primitive in nature.

Comparable historic sites are Fort Hays, 60 miles north, and Fort Scott Historic Area, over 250 miles to the southeast near the corner of the state.
