Americans are vitally interested in their National Parks and especially the parks of the National Capital. This work is an attempt to present a history of the parks of the National Capital from their beginning to the present time, tracing the legal authority for the original office of the three Federal Commissioners of 1791 to the present office of National Capital Parks. It is hoped that the readers of this history may obtain many useful facts concerning the various areas of National Capital Parks as well as a better understanding of the development of the National Capital Parks.
