On Sunday, May 30th, over a hundred people from around the island flocked to the  Asan Beach Unit of the War in the Pacific NHP to participate in the second "Movies in the Park" event this year.

The sunset and the clear skies above made for a beautiful early evening as residents  threw down their blankets, took off their flip-flops, and sprawled on the ground to  enjoy a free night of entertainment in the oceanside park.

Not too long after sunset, the sky darkened and the WWII classic "Tora! Tora!  Tora!" was projected onto a huge tarp that was suspended and hung between two  large coconut trees.

This event was hosted by War in the Pacific NHP and the Arizona Museum  Memorial Association. The National Park Service sponsored this event to thank the communities of Guam for the many years of support and patronage!

The community loved the night out in the fresh air, enjoyed seeing the movie classic, and expressed their interest in having more "Movie in the Park" events. Thanks to the Interpretation and Maintenance Divisions, the event was a huge success!

At the War in the Pacific National Historical Park in Asan, more than 100 movie fans watched the 1970 classic “Tora! Tora! Tora!” May 30. Among those who watched were Jamie and Shalyn Allen (at far left) and Tracy Shao and her son Christopher, 9. The movie, about the Japanese navy’s attack on Pearl Harbor, was shown as part of activities to mark this year’s 60th anniversary of the liberation of Guam .
