The Yorktown was damaged heavily by Japanese aircraft June 4, in the Battle of Midway. Escort ships hover near the damaged carrier which went to the bottom June 7, after a successful attack by an enemy submarine. The Yorktown displaced 19,900 tons and was 761 feet long.
