| Description: | Alligators crawl toward the foe on Leyte. Two huge Army alligators, their gunners ready to 'let 'em have it' growl forward toward the Japanese lines from a beach. Mounted by the open doors of Coast Guard manned and Navy LST's after the early waves had secured the beachhead on Leyte Island in the Philippines, these crawling forts figured powerfully in crashing through Japanese defenses and driving the enemy back into the interior comrade.
