How To Reach the Memorials
Ford's Theatre (Lincoln Museum) is located at 511
Tenth Street NW., between E and F Streets, and the House Where Lincoln
Died is just across the street at 516 Tenth Street. No parking
facilities are available. Streetcars and buses, however, stop only a
short distance from the area.
Administration
The Lincoln Museum and the House Where Lincoln Died
are National Memorials administered by National Capital Parks, a unit of
the National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior. All
inquiries should be addressed to the Superintendent, National Capital
Parks, Interior Building, Washington 25, D. C.
Related Areas
In addition to the Lincoln Museum and the House Where
Lincoln Died, the National Capital Parks also administers the Lincoln
Memorial. Other areas of the National Park System relating to Lincoln
are the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site, Hodgenville,
Ky., and the Gettysburg National Military Park, Gettysburg, Pa.
Visitor Facilities
The Lincoln Museum is open from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m.,
and the House Where Lincoln Died from 9 a. m. to 5:30 p. m. on weekdays.
Both buildings open at 12:30 p. m. and close at the usual time on
Sundays and holidays, except on Christmas when both memorials are
closed. There is a small admission fee, which is waived for children and
educational groups.
Illustrated talks on the assassination of Lincoln and
the history of Ford's Theatre are scheduled regularly at the Lincoln
Museum and special guide and lecture services are available to groups
and organizations by appointment.
