Summary:
Mr. J.E.L. was picked up on radar by a ranger on the parkway at 81
mph in a 45 mph zone. The ranger pursued, but backed off when both
vehicles approached a section of the highway with many curves. J.E.L.,
however, continued to accelerate, and lost control of his car: it went
airborne on a comer, flipped several times and impacted so hard that it
took an hour and a half to extricate him. Although he was alive at the
accident scene, he expired at the hospital.

J.E.L.'s license had been revoked following two convictions for drunk
driving. Blood test results have not yet returned, but it is suspected
that he was intoxicated at the time of his death.
