Summary:
Mr. J.R.H. was swimming; about 30 feet from shore he shouted for help and
went under. Rangers recovered his body in 20 feet of water. Three friends
were present at the time of the incident.

Summary:
Mr. M.U.'s body was found washed ashore on the beach by the park's district
ranger. The victim had been the subject of an intensive search after her
vehicle had been found unattended in parking lot #2 on February 11th. A check
with her family and doctor revealed that she was suicidal. A search had
been conducted but suspended on February 14th. Indications are that the death
was a suicide by drowning.

Summary:
A vehicle (type & make unknown at this time) was being operated, (operator
unknown) westbound on Route 140 just outside the park boundary in El Portel,
California. The vehicle struck a bridge, went out of control and came to
rest in a creek bed. Both the driver and the passenger (below named
individuals) were pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the accident.
The Mariposa County Sheriff's Department is conducting the investigation.
Since both individuals were relatives of park employees, a supplemental
report is also being carried by the park staff.
