Summary:
An unidentified individual came on foot to entrance station where a male MPS
employee was on duty. Individual had a large caliber silver revolver, and was
wearing a hooded sweatshirt and ski mask. Described to be 61- 6' 2", medium
build. He took $470 and ran into a wooded area. Approximately 10 or more
rangers searched into the night with dogs. A search of the bars in West
Yellowstone was also performed. Checkpoints were established with the help of
several officers from the West Yellowstone Police Department. Investigation
continuing.

Summary:
A demonstration and presentation of demands were made by Earth First to PNW
Associate Regional Director, Rich Winters. Thirteen adults and two children
peacefully demonstrated against the two dams on the Elwha River in Olympic NP.
There were no incidents, property damage or arrests. The event lasted one
hour and 45 minutes. The Federal Protection Service assisted with one
uniformed officer. This is the same group that demonstrated in mid-July at
the upper dam site on the Elwha.

Summary:
A body, identified to be that of R.S., was discovered on August 3,
1987, in an unnamed lake near Elizabeth Pass. R.S. was reported missing
after leaving to go cross country skiing in the park in February earlier this
year. Next of kin notified.

Summary:
Y.S.L. was with a climbing party of 5. He was starting the 2nd pitch of the
North face route when a rock was dislodged by a member of his party who
was climbing above him. Y.S.L. was struck in the head by the rock and became
limp in his harness. His friends lowered him to the ground. He was flown to
the valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
