Summary:
R.P.S. was the lead climber in an area known for soft, loose rock, when a
hand or foot hold came loose causing him to fall. All his protection pieces
pulled from the stone, causing him to fall 120 feet. R.P.S. struck his head
before his belay partner could arrest the fall. His partners secured his
body before climbing to safety. Rescue attempts have been hampered by the
loose rock and precarious location of the body. The Rocky Mountain Rescue
Group has been called in and is currently attempting to retrieve the body
with the aid of a helicopter.
