Incident Summary
On Sunday, July 24th, at about 7 pm, U.S. Park Police Officer Karel
Blackmore, 26, and another Park Police Officer responded to a report of a
man with a gun at the East Potomac Tennis Courts. At the scene the officers
detained four suspects. Blackmore began to search one of the suspects and
discovered a .38 caliber handgun. Taking the handgun from the suspect and
backing away, Blackmore stepped off a curb and the weapon discharged
striking him in the left thigh. Blackmore was transported by U.S. Park
Police Helicopter to the Washington Medstar Unit and admitted. His
condition is not known at this time. The individual with the handgun was an
off duty Metropolitan Police Officer. U.S. Park Police and Metropolitan
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Incident Summary
R.L.W., 50, of Phoenix, Arizona, was fly fishing in the Colorado
River at Lees Ferry, on Sunday the 24th, when he fell into the river. R.L.W.
was wearing chest waders which filled with water and he was swept down
stream by the strong current. The park dive team recovered his body 150-200
yards down stream later that same day.

Incident Summary
On July 23rd, J.E.P., 38, of Irvine, California, was operating a jet
ski when he struck a boat. He suffered massive injuries and was transported
to Bullhead City Hospital where he died seven hours later. No further
details are available at this time.
