Incident Summary
On August 2nd, at 2:30 pm, R.A.W. and his wife were driving north
on the parkway just east of Asheville, North Carolina. While driving,
R.A.W. turned to his wife to ask about a map, when he turned his attention
back to driving the vehicle was off the road and going over an embankment.
The vehicle came to rest after striking a rock and R.A.W., who was not
wearing a seatbelt, was seriously injured and pinned in the vehicle. When
rangers arrived, R.A.W. was not breathing and CPR was initiated reviving
him. R.A.W. was extracted from the vehicle and air lifted to Memorial
Mission Hospital in Asheville where he later died.

Incident Summary
On Thursday, July 28, rangers and Lincoln, Massachusetts police officers
eradicated seven 5 foot cannabis plants. The plants, valued at $5,000, were
growing in a plot which had been under electronic surveillance since March;
the plot had been unattended during that time. Rangers discovered and
eradicated a cannabis plot in the same general area last year.

Incident Summary
On July 28th, rangers at Haleakala arrested 46 year old W.C., near
the House of the Sun visitor center, after W.C. pointed a "sawed off"
shotgun at several persons and threatened to kill them. W.C. was carrying
a Walther PPK auto-loading pistol and a short barreled shotgun at the time
of his arrest. Rangers also found a Colt .45 caliber auto-loading pistol on
the passenger seat of W.C.'s pickup truck. W.C. is being held without
bail and a variety of charges are pending further investigation.
