INCIDENTS

91-38 - Delaware Water Gap (New Jersey/Pennsylvania) - Drug Lab

On January 29th, rangers discovered a cardboard box in the woods
near a pullout on Highway 209 in the park's Pennsylvania
District. Several bottles of undetermined substances, a beaker
and several used filter papers were found in the box. A
chemical analysis was conducted on the substances, and it was
determined that they were employed in the manufacture of
methamphetamines. An investigation is underway in conjunction
with the Pennsylvania state police. [Telefax from Hal Grovert,
CR, DEWA, 2/4]

91-39 - Great Falls (Virginia) - Suicide

A visitor to the park discovered a man slumped over on the
ground in a parking lot at 7:00 a.m. on the morning of February
2nd. Fairfax County police were summoned, as rangers do not
come on duty until 8:00 a.m. They found a 79-year-old man with a
fatal gunshot wound in his right temple. A note was found taped
to the inside of a car nearby which stated that the man, who was
later found to be a Great Falls resident, had committed suicide.
Park Police detectives are investigating. [CompuServe message
