INCIDENTS

Manassas National Battlefield Park (VA)
Death of Employee

On January 29th, maintenance worker (MVO) Max Stubbs died at Prince William Hospital. Max started his career at Manassas in 1981 as a laborer (worker trainee) and spent his entire NPS career at the park. Superintendent Robert Sutton has sent along this tribute: "Max was one of the rare employees who worked hard and loved what he did every day. Everyone, present and past employees, volunteers and park visitors who came into contact with him, loved to be around Max. One of his jobs on weekends was to supervise community service volunteers — folks who needed to work off the hours of their court sentences. Max would coax, cajole, and sometimes yell and scream to get the maximum out of all of these "volunteers." But the end result was that they would produce and contribute their hours to benefit the park. One of the highlights in his career was a role he played in the new park movie that was filmed a couple of years ago. Max's death has left a void in the park that can only be filled with the fond memories we all share of the time we spent with him."
