OPERATIONAL NOTES

NPS Office at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center
Firearms and Defensive Tactics Instructor Updates

NPS-FLETC over the past several years has received requests for instructor updates in firearms and defensive tactics.  Several significant changes to both firearms and defensive tactics lesson plans have occurred within the past two years.  Instructors who have not recently received refresher training may be unfamiliar with the skills and techniques used by recent graduates.

NPS-FLETC is announcing six FLETC export classes for current NPS defensive tactics and firearms instructors - three on defensive tactics and three on firearms. The objective of these classes is to get NPS agency instructors up-to-date with current FLETC instructional techniques. These sessions are limited to current agency instructors only.

The costs of all FLETC instructor travel are being paid for by NPS-FLETC.  NPS-FLETC is also paying for 50% of the ammo costs during the firearms export classes. Student travel is paid for by benefiting account. For this training to be cost-effective, there must be at least 18 students per session. If we do not receive sufficient applicants 30 days prior to the course start date, the course will be cancelled.

Contact class coordinators for specifics regarding each session. These six sessions will be offered across the NPS during FY-2004:
