INCIDENTS

Florissant Fossil Beds NM

Elk Poached Within Park

An elk was illegally shot and killed in the park during the early morning hours of Sunday, January 20th. The incident occurred about a mile south of the town of Florissant. Protection rangers are investigating in conjunction with state and county officers. They are looking for three men in their late 30s to early 40s and a teenage boy who were seen at the scene that morning. They were driving a dark red extended cab Ford F-350 with Colorado plates. The primary suspect has dark hair, a dark beard and thin wire-rimmed glasses. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call chief ranger Rick Wilson at 719-748-3253 or Operation Game Thief (1-877-COLO-OGT). A $500 reward from Operation Game Thief may be offered for information about this crime.
