Body Of Missing Visitor Found In Lake

On the morning of December 4th, rangers encountered family members searching for T.B. in a closed area. They had last seen 43-year-old T.B. around 5:30 that morning after a night of celebration on a Forever Resorts houseboat moored at the Diablo East Marina docks. They believed that T.B. had decided to walk several miles home after a night of drinking. Rangers began a hasty search of unsecured boats at the marina and nearby buildings, trails, and shorelines. Customs and Border Protection officers also searched the area by air. At approximately 12:20 p.m., rangers were notified that Forever Resorts SCUBA divers had found T.B.'s body while searching the underwater area of the marina. Resort divers and a protection division diver recovered the body in 43 feet of water near the family's rented houseboat. Rangers are working with the Val Verde County Sheriffs Department, which is leading the investigation. An autopsy has been ordered. T.B. was a long-time resident of Del Rio, Texas, and a lieutenant in the Del Rio Fire Department. [Bruce Malloy, Chief Ranger]
