INCIDENTS


Baltimore Washington Parkway

Teenager Shot And Injured


On the morning of December 17th, the Park Police were advised of a shooting that had occurred at the traffic light at the top of the ramp from the parkway to Route 450. A Nissan sedan was stopped at the light when someone fired through its front passenger window, striking a teenage male in the right shoulder. The driver took him to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. Detectives are investigating the shooting. Director's Office - On December 17th, Director Bomar sent out a memo entitled “Coming Together at Christmas" to all the employees of the National Park Service.


Natural Resource Program Center - A climate change response steering committee is being established to serve as an advisory body to the NLC and promote best practices in resource protection and sustainability. Nominations are due by close of business today.


Natural Resource Program Center - The print edition of the most recent issue of Park Science will arrive in mailboxes later this week. Meanwhile, contributions are being sought for future editions, including a special issue on soundscapes.


Lake Mead NRA - Lake Mead was covered with snow during a historic storm that brought as much as eight inches of snow to the Las Vegas Valley on Thursday. The area hasn't seen such a snowfall since 1979. A photo is included.


Southeast Regional Office - Gordon Wissinger has been named the associate regional director for operations for Southeast Region. He will assume his new duties in January.


Navajo NM - John A. Laughter, maintenance worker supervisor, will retire on January 3rd with over 31 years in the National Park Service.
