Woman Commits Suicide At Parkway Turnout

The body of a North Carolina woman was found just inside the wood line near mile post 393 on Thursday, February 26th. She'd shot herself. The woman's husband had placed a 911 call reporting that he'd received a cell phone text message from his wife saying that she was going to commit suicide at a turnout near the Bent Creek area. He told investigators that she'd been suffering from extreme depression due to health issues. [Tim Francis, Pisgah District Ranger]
