Servicewide - President Obama has directed that all flags be lowered to half staff today in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.

Natural Resource Program Center - Since 2006, the third Friday in May - today - has been celebrated as Endangered Species Day. The day draws awareness to the threats to species that are listed under the act, and also celebrates success stories, such as the delisting of the American bald eagle.

US Park Police - Chief Salvatore Lauro recently presented the United States Park Police Lifesaving Award to officer Scott Huther and sergeant Todd Roth of the San Francisco Field Office.

Training - A listing of upcoming training courses offered by the NPS and its partners across the nation. Added this week - a motorboat operator instructor certification course at Everglades, a course on the fundamentals of special park uses in Albuquerque, an on-line training course on the principals of law enforcement OODA (observation, orientation, deciding and acting), and ten new FLETC training courses at both the Glynco and Artesia campuses,
