Appalachian Trail - How many visitors are there to the Appalachian Trail - and how do we count them? A project is now underway to develop an effective system for tallying the number of hikers on the trail.


Sleeping Bear Dunes NL - Environmental specialist Mike Duwe is retiring on January 1st after 31 years of dedicated federal service, 28 of which were with the National Park Service.


Servicewide - A listing of upcoming training courses offered by the NPS and its partners across the nation. Added to this week's listing are the following - two more Fundamentals II classes at Albright Training Center, commercial service monthly chats for June and July, a new deadline for applying to the NPS facility manager leaders program, an interdisciplinary resource protection and law course in Alaska, and a pair of courses - one on NEPA, the other on PEPC - being given in MWRO and SERO.
