Two Missing Divers Found And Rescued

On the afternoon of December 10th, rangers received a request for assistance in a search underway for two missing divers - one of them an off-duty Virgin Islands police officer. They were last seen at Lang Bank, about six miles east of Buck Island Reef NM. There was a small craft warning in effect at the time due to six- to eight-foot swells. Also involved in the search were local agencies and civilians and the Coast Guard. Ranger Adrian Fernandez and bio-science tech Clayton Pollock found the two divers a mile east of Buck Island within the park's jurisdiction just after 3 p.m. The divers were exhausted, but appeared to be in good health. They were transported to Green Cay Marina, where they were met by EMS personnel, treated and released. [Lorena Harris, Chief Ranger]
