Valley Forge NHP

Sentencing Completed In Car Clout, Credit Card Fraud Case


On March 24th, the final defendant was sentenced following a lengthy investigation and trial process stemming from a car clout and credit card fraud operation in the park dating back to the summer of 2006. A total of five coconspirators were found guilty and three were sentenced to confinement - D.D., 30 months; D.W., 51 months; K.B., 36 months - with each to be followed by three years of supervised release. The court also ordered payment of a total of $27,681.38 in restitution and up to $2,000 in fines and the completion of 300 hours of community service. The case was prosecuted by assistant U.S. attorney Pamela Foa. The investigation was conducted by rangers Charmeka Parker and Michael Valora, with the assistance of the U.S. Secret Service, Upper Merion Township Police Department, and Philadelphia Police Department. Council on Environmental Quality - Administration officials announced yesterday that they will host a White House Conference on America's Great Outdoors on Friday, April 16th. It will address the challenges, opportunities and innovations surrounding modern-day land conservation and the importance of reconnecting Americans and American families to the outdoors.

Conservation and Outdoor Recreation - It's not too late to submit a project in PMIS for "Connect Trails To Parks" funding for FY 2011 and beyond. The deadline for FY 2011 project proposals is August 31st.


Salinas Pueblo Missions NM - Craig Morgan, park guide at Salinas Pueblo Missions, passed away suddenly from an apparent heart attack on the evening of March 16th. Photo.
