Man Arrested For Attempted Murder In Road Rage Incident

A.D., a 47-year-old resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, was arrested by the Park Police last week and charged with assault with intent to commit murder. The arrest stemmed from a road rage incident that occurred on Sunday, November 7th. A.D. and another driver were on Powder Mill Road near the parkway at about 4:30 pm when they exchanged words after the latter was reportedly almost run off the road. After that, both drivers drove away, with the eventual victim following A.D. and talking with the police dispatcher, describing what happened. A short time later, both drivers came to a stop, and A.D. fired a handgun at him. The gunfire didn't hit either the victim or his car. He was able to provide Park Police detectives with identifying information and a description, and the detectives tracked A.D. down. On Tuesday, November 9th, Park Police detectives and SWAT team members executed a search warrant at A.D.'s home in the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring and recovered evidence linking him to the crime. A.D. was arrested and charged in federal district court. He is being held pending further court proceedings. [Sergeant David Schlosser, Public Information Officer]
