Independence NHP - A new exhibit, “President's House: Freedom and Slavery in the Making of a New Nation,” opened on December 15th after more than five years of design development, eight years of vigorous public participation, and ten years after ground was first broken for the Liberty Bell Center.


Law Enforcement, Security and Emergency Services - After many years in development, IMARS - the Department of Interior's comprehensive nationwide Incident Management and Reporting System - is now being beta tested in the field.


Cape Hatteras NS - The National Park Service has approved the record of decision (ROD) for the final environmental impact statement for the park's off-road vehicle management plan.


Fire Island NS - Jay Lippert, chief ranger at Fire Island National Seashore, will be retiring on January 1st after more than 34 years of service with the NPS. Photo.


Grand Canyon NP - Amy Caldwell, chief of administration at Grand Canyon National Park, has announced that she will retire on January 1st. Photo.


Denver Service Center - Glenda Heronema and Ruth Eitel, who both began working for Denver Service Center in 1977, will both retire on January 1st after 34 years with the National Park Service. Photo.
