Yosemite NP - A letter from a young girl who returned two sticks she'd inadvertently taken from the park went ‘viral' when recently posted on the park's Facebook page, receiving 100,000 ‘likes,' and also caught the attention of media worldwide.


Statue of Liberty NM - The Statue of Liberty fire brigade has received a donation of equipment from the Gear Up Foundation, including boots, coats, pants, hoods, gloves, helmets, Scott packs and cylinders, flashlights, and face masks.  


Yellowstone NP - The Northern Yellowstone Cooperative Wildlife Working Group conducted its annual aerial winter survey of the northern Yellowstone elk population on February 18th. Staff counted 915 elk inside Yellowstone and 3,000 elk elsewhere north of the park - a six percent decline from last winter's count.


National Capital Region - Bob Vogel, superintendent for the National Mall and Memorial Parks, and Laura Cohen, chief of interpretation at Prince William Forest Park, recently received the 2012 superior performance award from Eastern National. Vogel also received the Herbert E. Kahler award.
