Director's Office - On Friday, March 8th, Director Jarvis issued a Servicewide all-employee memorandum entitled “Implementation Of Sequestration Budget Cuts.” The full text is provided.


John Day Fossil Beds NM - The partial skull of a new fisher species was recently found in the park. This discovery represents the earliest record of a fisher in the world - more than 5 million years earlier than other records of fishers in North America.


Cabrillo NM - Cabrillo National Monument is partnering with its neighbor, the United States Navy, to restore endangered native plant habitat along San Diego's Point Loma Peninsula.  


Alaska Region - Three NPS scientists with the Central Alaska Inventory and Monitoring Network have published a paper that describes efforts to explore and test new methodological approaches for monitoring passerine bird species.


Office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs - This week's update on past and upcoming hearings, newly introduced bills, and the status of legislation of interest to the National Park Service. This report covers the week ending on Friday, March 8th.
