Big Bend NP - Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park recently sponsored a cleanup of the Rio Grande River, the fourth successive year that this event has been held.  Fifty-six volunteers cleaned up 27 miles of the Rio Grande within the two parks.


Office of Communications - Director Jarvis has named Sue Masica regional director for Intermountain Region. Masica, who currently serves as the Alaska regional director, assumes her new position in Denver in January.


Great Smoky Mountains NP - During the week of November 4th, Great Smoky Mountains conducted a train-the-trainer course which qualified 11 park employees to serve as instructors in a comprehensive chainsaw training program being developed by the park.


Palo Alto Battlefield NHP - Palo Alto Battlefield hosted a citizenship ceremony on Tuesday, November 12th.  Five individuals from two countries, who became eligible for citizenship through service in the U.S. military, took the oath of allegiance. 


Midwest Region - Richard A. (Rick) Clark, currently chief of science and resources management at Gulf Islands National Seashore, has been named the new superintendent of Missouri National Recreational River.
