Carlsbad Caverns NP - Two cavers making a routine survey of a cave in Carlsbad Caverns on Halloween night discovered a large and colorful room - the most notable room of its kind discovered in decades.


The White House - By order of President Obama, all US flags are to be flown at half staff today in memory of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated on this date 50 years ago. They are to remain at half staff until sunset.


Chattahoochee River NRA - This fall, Chattahoochee River completed the second year of a two-year "Ticket to Ride" program funded by a grant from the National Park Foundation, bringing 800 elementary students into the park on field trips at no cost to their schools.


Alaska Region - Rebecca R. Lasell, currently a district manager in BLM's California Desert District, has been selected as the new superintendent of Kenai Fjords National Park.


Servicewide Training Calendar - A compilation of upcoming training courses, webinars and online training offered by the National Park Service and related agencies. Added to this week's calendar are the following - six new webinars from FLETC, a DOI-sponsored class at NCTC on command and general staff functions for local incident management teams, an annual law enforcement refresher training course at Jefferson National Expansion, four agreements technical representative online refresher courses, and four WebEx webinars.
