Biscayne NP - An exhibition of 26 art quilts highlighting the impacts of climate change, pollution and other anthropogenic impacts to national parks recently opened at Biscayne National Park.


Today's Almanac - Bitter cold will be felt from the western Great Plains to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast for the next few days. Wind chill advisories and warnings are in effect for many areas.


Fort Caroline NM - Fort Caroline National Memorial recently commemorated the 16th century French effort to establish a permanent colony in present day Florida.


Gulf Islands NS - After years of preparations, the Natchez Collections Management Center recently began a new phase in its history with the arrival of the bulk of Gulf Islands National Seashore's museum collection.


Washington Office - This past summer, the WASO Wellness Committee held a StairWell Challenge in which employees were encouraged to take stairs instead of elevators to increase their physical activity.


Midwest Archeological Center - Linda Clarke, contracting officer for the Midwest Regional Office, is retiring on January 9th with 22 years of service to the National Park Service.


Catoctin Mountain Park - John “Trapper John” Kempisty, law enforcement ranger at Catoctin Mountain Park, retired on December 31st with over 31 years of service to the United States.


Craters of the Moon NM&P - Douglass Owen is hanging up his ranger hat after 19 years as a park ranger, geologist and education specialist at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve.


NPS Alumni - Craig Letz, a fire staff officer for BLM, retired from federal service at the end of December. Craig worked in fire management for 25 years, 16 of those with the National Park Service.


Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP - Ranger Patti Reynolds of Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP retired on January 2nd after over 38 years of service, all at the park.
