Centennial Office - The National Park Service is partnering with the National Endowment for the Arts on a new arts grant initiative that jointly celebrates the 50th anniversary of the NEA in 2015 and the centennial anniversary of the NPS in 2016.


Today's Almanac - Arctic air is settling southward from Canada into the central and eastern U.S. This will cause dangerously cold temperatures to be felt by a large portion of country for the next few days.


Salem Maritime NHS - Nine NPS staff, four teachers and six community partners involved in the Park for Every Classroom (PEC) program gathered at the park last month for a three-day workshop.


Natural Resource Stewardship and Science - A new issue of Park Science was recently published that examines the topic of biological diversity - discovery, science, and management.


Office of Communications - Roberta D'Amico has been selected to head the National Park Service's Office of Communications. She assumes her new duties on January 12th.


Southeast Region - Pedro Ramos, currently superintendent of Big Cypress National Preserve, has been selected as the superintendent of Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks in Florida.


Northeast Region - Dr. Ray Albright will begin serving as Northeast Region's acting natural resources chief on January 12th. He is currently a cooperative ecosystem studies unit senior scientist with the NPS.


Natural Resource Stewardship and Science - Lorin "Butch" Street, a management analyst  with the NPS Social Science Program's Public Use Statistics Office, will retire on January 10th.


Kennesaw Mountain NBP - Harold Rogers, maintenance employee at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, retired on January 2nd after 39 years with the National Park Service.


Denver Service Center - After 30 years of government service, Steve Paul will retire on January 31st. He is a branch chief in Denver Service Center's Contracting Services Division.
