Park Facility Management Division - The Climate Friendly Parks Program hosted a virtual climate workshop this week for park staff in the Alaska Region. The program is dedicated to mitigating climate change in parks through a variety of practices and procedures.


Fort Sumter NM - A rare 10-inch Columbiad cannon at Fort Sumter, which has been sitting on a deteriorating wooden carriage for years, has received a new carriage.


Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Division - Rita Hennessy, longtime trails administrator and National Park Service veteran, is the new program manager for the Service's National Trails System.


Parashant NM - The International Dark-Sky Association recently presented Eathan McIntyre, the park's physical scientist, with the 2014 Dark Sky Defender Award for his efforts in preserving night skies.


Servicewide Training Calendar - The following have been added to this week's calendar - WebEx sessions on the Girl Scout ranger program and on use of WebEx itself, a course on assistance agreements, two science communication workshops for natural resource professionals, a course on NPS right-of-way permitting, and three monthly NPS digital Servicewide calls/webinars.
