Rangers Arrest Combative Juveniles

On the evening of Friday, June 12th, rangers were notified of an assault that had occurred on the park's historic Grand Promenade, located in the downtown area of the park. They eventually located a juvenile man matching the suspect's description sitting amongst a group of people on Bathhouse Row.

The rangers contacted him and were in the process of separating him from bystanders when he became aggressive and started yelling at them. He became so upset that bystanders had to restrain or pull him away from rangers several times. The young man was eventually placed in handcuffs and escorted to a patrol vehicle, where a young woman approached with his shoes. Rangers repeatedly ordered her to get back and had to push her away when she would not leave. She then became aggressive, screaming and yelling, but was pulled away by her friends.

Once the young man was placed in the patrol vehicle, rangers again contacted the young woman, who refused to provide identification. When they attempted to arrest her, she became combative and had to be wrestled to the ground by rangers and city police. During the altercation, there were approximately 50 other juveniles yelling and screaming at the rangers and city officers, which is becoming a common occurrence in the downtown section of the park during the warm summer months.

The juveniles were arrested and taken to the Garland County Juvenile Detention Center. Charges included interference with agency function and disorderly conduct.
