DON WATSON - Ranger Historian, is now a permanent member of the Educational Staff at Mesa Verde, after serving five seasons in temporary work. Don has spent the winter arranging new museum exhibits and here tells of a few of the more interesting. PAUL R. FRANKE - the "Chief" of the Educational Staff, has been planning a Ruin Reconnaissance for several years. He explains the need and possibilities, giving us an insight into what will be the procedure. PLATT CLINE - Platt is a local boy, a C.C.C. enrollee, working with the Educational Staff. His work in conducting tours has been highly commendable. Because of connections with "Old Timers" he has become interested in the story behind place names in the region. A more complete list is being prepared to appear later as an "Occasional Paper." BETTY YELM - our Museum Assistant of two seasons, completed her Master's Degree in Anthropology at the University of Denver this past winter. While at the University she studied and measured a group of Mesa Verde cliff dweller skulls, under the direction of Dr. E. B. Renaud, Professor of Anthropology, University of Denver. HERB ALBERDING - on the Educational Staff for the summers of 1932-1934 inclusive. Alberding is now at Grand Canyon National Park, where greater opportunity is offered him in geological research. In another year's work at Arizona University Herb hopes to complete a Ph. D. degree in Geology. Herein is the conclusion of his writings on Mesa Verde Cacti. T. ALAN CASE - now spending his third season at Mesa Verde. He has completed work in Archeology at the University of Arizona, in Archeology and Dramatics at the University of Denver, and is now enrolled at Colorado Medical School. His versatility now extends to the role of illustrator. |
