A lasting friendship is not born in a day. How long have you known your best friend? Since boyhood or perhaps since college days. The fact remains that friendships are formed thru long and close acquaintance. Inner traits disclosed in rare moments of confidence weave a binding for "Life's" greatest volumn; friendship.

And yet, who ever heard of making friends with a forest, a lake or a windswept ice crowned mountain. Nevertheless, the analogy remains!

What is your first thought upon coming into the Park? To be sure; "I am now entering Mount Rainier National Park. Where is the mountain?" or H-mm-m, man in green uniform. Must be a ranger. --nice road--wonder how the hotel is?" Most everybody notes these things and exclaims at the panorama unfolded on the trip up the mountain. Beyond this, few people show much curiosity.

People worth knowing don't come up, slap you on the back and say, "Wouldn't you like to meet me?" Likewise, nature offers many thousands of friendships and acquaintances, once met, never forgotten, and once known, treasured forever.
