MICE USE CASH REGISTER.

Not that they have learned to use the cash register in the way it was made to be used; but the mice at the Park Entrance have found another use for it. On several occasions of late it has been found that the cash register was not registering properly. Investigations gave the answer, in every case brought to light a quantity of watermellon or other seeds, that have been stored there for safe keeping by the white-footed deer mice of the vicinity.

BIRD NOTES.

Since reporting the first gull noted in the park as we did last week others have been seen. During the week a guide party at Cowlitz Rocks noted three gulls, apparently Claucous-winged, flying south across the shoulder of the mountain at about 9,000 feet elevation.

The belted kingfisher, while quite common along the streams of the lower valleys, is seldom seen in the high country. Yesterday one was noted by the naturalist fishing Lake Louise.
