It is appropriate that the new administration building, which has been under construction all summer, should be ready for occupancy before Thanksgiving Day. Without a doubt the new business quarters are appreciated by everyone for the old office building, with the constantly increasing popularity of Mount Rainier National Park, had long since become obsolete.

It is a combination of architectural beauty and utility. Huge glacial boulders from the Nisqually River bar make up the lower portion of the structure. The Silver Forest contributed the weathered Alaska Cedar logs that compose the upper portion. Slabs of Alaska Cedar are used within to lend a rustic effect to portions of the interior and the finished woodwork of Alaska Cedar is a tribute to the qualities of this wood for this purpose. Probably the feature that attracts the most attention is the enormous fireplace in the lobby and the huge boulders that compose it. Within will be located the offices of the Park Superintendent and his staff, the telephone exchange, engineer's headquarters and in the basement there is a jail--fore emergency.

Visitors will be impressed with the native beauty of this building and its modern features. It is easily one of the handsomest structures in the Park.
