Color! Now our mountain's rugged flanks
Are decked in gorgeous reds and golds
The vanguard of the frost king's ranks
In brilliant splendor all unfolds!
E'en here and there where summer's landscape palled
Now crisp, cool autumn's vivid color calls
For those who seek real beauty in the year's display
Which now, upon the mount is holding sway.
For Nature in her varied moods
Has proven in conspicuous ways
The color of "The Mountain's" slopes and woods
Is richer in these bright October days!
